Paternity
Paternity: The term
created in 1582 according to
Webster’s Dictionary
and is defined as:
- The quality or State of being a
Father
- Origin or decent from a Father

Paternity establishment
means identifying and legally deciding who is
the father of a child. |

Reasons to
have DNA testing and establish paternity:

Every child deserves to know who their
father is.

When the father is added to the child’s
birth certificate the
child has special rights such as: health
insurance, inheritance rights, child support
and tribal enrollment rights if they are
Native American children.

Social Security benefits are available to
a child (under 18)
if their father dies or becomes disabled.

Family history of health is true and

needed for cancer, diabetes, sickle cell and
other genetically contracted illnesses.

In “Out-of-wedlock” pregnancies, knowing

father means your parental rights must be
considered before
the child can be placed for adoption.

How are
the tests done?
It's called a “Buccal Swab” test.
It's done by gently rubbing the inside of the
cheeks with a swab (like a Q-tip). These buccal
cells come off and adhere to the swab which will
last in all conditions for years. The buccal
cells provide strong DNA regardless of age.
